From the Past: The X-Files Incredibly Short Fic Archive!

Oh my God. Here's a blast from the past.

For a brief period, I would write incredibly short fanfiction for the X-Files in-between the 'Shipper Surveys and larger fanfic projects. I went and created a dedicated webpage for it on a Tripod provider site... and then promptly forgot my login and password to manage the pages! (it may be an old 'rogue_librarian' account name I used before switching to my current Witty Librarian persona)

After remembering and then forgetting where I had the site - and then prodded today by a writing critique group I'm with about short fiction - I finally took the time to Google Search for it until I FINALLY FOUND THE SITE.

It was done on an old Dreamweaver HTML editor,
with CorelDraw for the banner designs!

And this time I'm not forgetting it, I'm adding links to it here.

I should have the original HTML pages on file somewhere, so I may one day transfer the stuff directly here, but in the meantime, here's a link to the past my fellow X-Philes!

I need to warn you, the Email link is to an old Lycos email account I cannot recover.

Also a call out to the likes of Cheezstk, JazzieBee, and Spider Angel. Their short fics are archived here as well!

I Will Be Getting 'Shipper Surveys Out. But My Time Is Spread Out...

I'm personally overwhelmed at the moment with other writing projects.

Also, I fear I may miss Darin's episode tomorrow night.

DAMMIT! Tell me there's a repeat viewing later in the week.

Quick Personal Note: Publishing eBook This Week

Just to share notes from my writing blog, I've uploaded an estory this week titled "A Serious Tank on a Clockwork World."

It's not much, just me throwing it out there as part of a teaching exercise, but it's here and it's got a gorgeous cover to it.

that reflective blue glass...
just beautiful...

Personal News: New Story in a Humor/Horror Anthology!

For those of you who remember me as a fanfic writer for the X-Files back in the day, you might notice I've been published with original fiction for the past few years as well.

I've been published once again, this time in a new humor/horror anthology release, Strangely Funny III!

It's an increasingly popular anthology series by small press Mystery & Horror LLC, and they've accepted several of my works for earlier books such as the first Strangely Funny, Mardi Gras Murder, and History and Mystery Oh My!

My story is "Minette Dances With the Golem of Albany," and it's a sequel to my "I Must Be Your First" story from the first Strangely Funny volume. It also involves characters I'm using in a work-in-progress titled Subway Night I hope to finish this year.

Strangely Funny III is currently available as Kindle ebook only, but a print version and EPUB version should be coming soon!

Personal Note: My Writings

You may notice I have a "Writings" tab up on my menu bar.

One of the things I've done over the decades is write. More than just these blogs I juggle depending on the topic, I've been working on short stories, novels, professional articles, all the literary fields. I've done fanfiction - mostly X-Files as you can see here at the Gossamer archive - but regular (sort of) fiction as well.

I'm eager to announce that I've e-published a new story, Body Armor Blues, as a novella on both Amazon Kindle and B&N Nook (Smashwords) formats.

Cover art by Istebrak

It's from an original 'verse I'm working on filled with superheroes, and I hope it's well-written and engaging and witty for readers to enjoy. If you do purchase a copy, please do me the honor of leaving a review for it when you can. Thank you!

Off-Topic: My Own Writings

In case you don't have me as a Twitter or Facebook friend, you might not know I'm in the midst of working on NaNoWriMo this month, which is why there's not a lot of X-Files news or survey uploading right now.

Just to say I'm halfway through the novel project, and I am getting some of the more action-oriented details into my work now, which is good.

How are you doing? Happy Pagan Turkey Sacrifice Day to you in case you don't hear from me before Thanksgiving.

If I Could Write An X-Files Episode

If I had a chance to pitch ideas for the X-Files revival - for any following episodes that could happen if this 6-episode miniseries has solid ratings - these five ideas are the ones I'd pitch:

  • "Mulder and Scully use fake IDs to join a crew of thieves attempting to heist a rare grimoire."
  • "Scully discovers one of her former trainees when she taught at Quantico has inherited a haunted house.  Wacky hijinks with Mulder and Guest Stars Kat Dennings and Matt Smith ensue."
  • "Aliens are riding the DC Metro."
  • "A town in the Arizona desert suddenly reappears after 100 years with no explanation.  Except for one citizen who isn't what she claims to be."
  • "Mulder and Scully hang out with a middle-aged reference librarian, during which said librarian tells off Mulder for damaging that library book during the Unnatural episode (mutter grumble)."

So... any chance I can wrangle a meeting with the producers for my pitch?"

...guys???

Updating This Site

I've added some Pages of information to the blog.

There's a link now to my fan fiction work at the Gossamer archive.

There's a listing of published works as well, if you're interested to see how my writing's improved since 2002... ;)
